Brexit is coming – transition period starts on February 1, 2020

All parties are in agreement. The United Kingdom will leave the European Union on January 31, 2020. This marks the start of the next phase in the Brexit process. For almost all areas relating to the movement of goods, everything will initially continue as before.

Following the House of Commons and House of Lords' approval of the law for ratifying the Brexit deal and the endorsement of Queen Elizabeth II in London, the negotiated withdrawal agreement was also signed off by the European Parliament in Brussels last night. This clears the way for the United Kingdom's withdrawal at midnight on January 31, 2020.

The most important information for customers of AEB solutions: Nothing will change during the night of February 1, 2020 regarding the handling of transactions with the United Kingdom.*

* For customers who use the Origin & Preferences AEB application, some special processing requirements may apply. Here you can find further information.

The measures AEB developed, delivered, and prepared in recent months were designed for a no-deal Brexit, which would mean that the United Kingdom would leave the European Union without an agreement.

As all parties have ratified the withdrawal agreement with a transition period, there is currently no need to adapt any applications or processes in the areas of customs, carriers, or compliance.

Only in the area of preferential law there are some fuzzy parts that you must take into account when using the Origin & Preferences AEB application.

Therefore, please discard any migration steps planned in accordance with our checklists for the no deal scenario and do not make any changes to your customizing.
