Compliance Screening: Withdrawal of the restricted party list UKBIS - IRAN LIST WMD End-Use Control

The UK ECO has removed the list from its website on March 22. AEB can therefore no longer update the list and will remove it from your system automatically via data service on April 11, 2017.

You are using ASSIST4 Compliance Screening to screen your business contacts against restricted party lists. You have licensed a package of restricted party lists which we call DATC9 in our quotations and the system description. This list package also includes the UKBIS list (official name: Iran List WMD End-Use Control).

The UK Department for International Trade has announced the withdrawal of the “Iran List WMD End-Use Control” on March 22, 2017.

The official wording can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-to-exporters-201708-iran-list-removed-from-govuk/notice-to-exporters-201708-iran-list-removed-from-govuk

Reasons for the withdrawal given by UK ECO

As a result of the deal reached between the E3+3 (France, Germany, UK, China, Russia, and USA) and Iran, some nuclear-related and other financial and economic sanctions were lifted in January 2016. As such the Iran List, which provides information for exporters about certain entities, companies, and organizations in Iran, has become obsolete. Therefore, the Department of Business Innovation & Skills, Export Control Organisation (ECO) has withdrawn the list as of March 22, 2017.

What are the consequences of the withdrawal of the restricted party list for ASSIST4 Compliance Screening?

The UK ECO has removed the list from its website on March 22. AEB can therefore no longer update the list and will remove it from your system automatically via data service on April 11, 2017.

Until that date, the list will remain available for screening unchanged in your system.

To stop screening against this list immediately, you can remove it from your Compliance profiles (Go to the Office – Administration – Compliance).

Note for customer that are still in the migration process and do not work with the current version 4.0: Deleting the list via data service is not possible for you. You should therefore remove the UKBIS list from your Compliance profile by all means to stop screening against it.
