End of support for MS SQL Server 2005 database for Engines as from February 2018 service pack

As from the upcoming February 2018 service pack, AEB will no longer support the MS SQL Server 2005 database for Engines. An upgrade to the latest version is mandatory. Even if you have already upgraded the SQL Server to version 2008 or higher, you should make sure that the highest possible compatibility level is set before installing the February service pack.

Microsoft Standard Support for MS SQL Server 2005 has ended with service pack 4 on April 12, 2011 and Extended Support has ended on April 12, 2016. Since then, Microsoft no longer provides any further security updates. For this reason, AEB has decided to no longer support this database. You will also find information about the end of support on the release planning pages in the AEB Service Portal.

If you are using MS SQL Server 2005 as database for your AEB application, upgrade the database to the latest version first.

A corresponding checklist is available for download here.

If you have already upgraded from SQL Server 2000 or 2005 to SQL Server 2008 or higher, you should make sure that the compatibility level of the database is set at least to SQL Server 2008 (100). We recommend that you always set the highest possible compatibility level matching the version of the SQL Server you are using. Only then proceed to install the February 2018 service pack.

The setting is made in the MS SQL Server Management Studio. Select the appropriate database, right-click on Properties, then select the options in the dialog. The compatibility level is displayed there. For SQL Server 2012, this should be "SQL Server 2012 (110)".

Further information can be found at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/databases/view-or-change-the-compatibility-level-of-a-database

Would you like to request support from AEB? Then get in touch with the AEB Services team via service(at)aeb.com.

Note:

Installing the service pack may take a few minutes longer than for previous service packs. This is due to patches that may extend the usual time for the database update by a few minutes.
